Map | Cultural Heritage. Goverment of Catalonia.

Just an hour and a half by car from Barcelona, hidden away in Montblanc area, you'll find these amazing treasures: Catalonia's three royal monasteries. Poblet, Santes Creus and Vallbona de les Monges. We recommend you first visit the Reial Monestir de Santes Creus, in the municipality of Aiguamúrcia (Alt Camp), one of the largest and best conserved group of monastic buildings that can now be visited. A 30-minute drive will then take you to the Reial Monestir de Poblet, the largest functioning Cistercian monastery in Europe. We are reserving the only female community, the activities of which have been uninterrupted for over 850 years, for the end of the Cistercian route.
