The crux of the activity is a series of games and interactions which the children have to take part in to find the answer to the final enigma of the notebook of Mr Stone, a traveller who came to the monastery to solve some riddles. The pupils will have to give him a hand. Each activity, which comes with a range of educational materials, will allow the pupils to delve deeper into life in the Middle Ages and the day to day business of a Mediaeval monastery.
We will discover the main features of the paintings and engravings at El Cogul and how they were done from five essential elements: the support, the technique, the paintings, the subjects and the tools. We will divide up into groups to work on those elements using objects and images. Afterwards, all together, we will reconstruct the process of creation of the paintings and engravings. Then we will become painters ourselves and create our own composition on a very special support.
Miravet is a place whose colours, light and contrasts drew many artists over the 20th century. Between 1929 and 1930, Joaquim Mir spent a busy time there: using films and paintings he made a record of his everyday life and an overview of the town at the time.
