The Congress will be held from 28 to 30 October 2025 at the Barcelona International Convention Centre (CCIB). Meetings of the various International Archive Council committees will be held on 25, 26 and 27 October.
MAIN STRANDS OF THE CANDIDATURE
- Innovation in contents and formats. The proposed contents incorporate subjects that have received little attention in previous congresses. Various fields have been identified for the scientific committee to consider. Moreover, the hybrid format of the congress gives people attending the opportunity to find out more about Barcelona and Catalonia through digital channels.
- It benefits archivists working in Catalonia. The Congress offers the opportunity to transform and develop the profession and provide it with the boost it needs to make the administrations and institutions aware of the central role played by archives, both in preserving and disseminating history, and for preserving the present for the future.
- It presents archival Barcelona and Catalunya to the world: documentary administration, the archives and digital society. The diversity of the Catalan archives is a value that is inherent to our nation and is therefore an important aspect that highlights and identifies us in a global world.
