En 1908, Ramon Huguet, rector de El Cogul, notifica la existencia de unas curiosas pinturas rupestres para incluirlas en la Geografia General de Catalunya, dirigida por Francesc Carreras Candi. El hecho de que la toponimia de la Roca incluya el t\u00e9rmino \u00abdels Moros\u00bb (de los moros) indica que la poblaci\u00f3n local ya conoc\u00eda las pinturas con anterioridad y las situaba en un tiempo lejano.<\/p>\n

El prehistoriador Henri Breuil se desplaza tambi\u00e9n a El Cogul ese mismo verano de 1908 y empieza sus investigaciones. Atribuye el mural al Paleol\u00edtico superior y en el calco que presenta, elaborado por Lu\u00eds Izquierdo, transforma la figura deteriorada de un cuadr\u00fapedo en un bisonte del Pleistoceno, en el lugar donde actualmente vemos un jabal\u00ed com\u00fan.<\/p>\n

El autor se\u00f1ala otras novedades, como la existencia de detalles grabados, y considera que la escena del grupo de mujeres puede representar una \u00abdanza f\u00e1lica\u00bb.<\/p>\n

Cefer\u00ed Rocafort y Juli Soler, junto con Llu\u00eds Vidal, llevan a cabo una investigaci\u00f3n patrocinada por el Instituto de Estudios Catalanes y el Centro Excursionista de Catalu\u00f1a, y llegan a documentar hasta 33 figuras. Contrariamente a la propuesta de H. Breuil, consideran que el mural pintado corresponde posiblemente al Neol\u00edtico.<\/p>\n

Se iniciaba as\u00ed un debate sobre la dataci\u00f3n del mural que todav\u00eda est\u00e1 vigente.<\/p>\n

M\u00e1s tarde, en 1952, Mart\u00edn Almagro sintetiza y revisa todos los estudios realizados hasta entonces. Identifica un total de 45 figuras pintadas y diversos grabados.<\/p>\n

Es la primera copia que incorpora las inscripciones ib\u00e9ricas y romanas. La adscripci\u00f3n cronol\u00f3gica propuesta por este autor se inscribe dentro del Mesol\u00edtico.<\/p>\n

En 1985, dentro del Programa Corpus de Pinturas Rupestres de Catalunya<\/em> del Servicio de Arqueolog\u00eda del Departamento de Cultura, se lleva a cabo la documentaci\u00f3n de las pinturas rupestres por parte de los especialistas Ramon Vi\u00f1as, Anna Alonso y Elisa Sarri\u00e1.<\/p>\n

Esta documentaci\u00f3n incluye un nuevo calco que registra 42 representaciones pintadas, y se aportan fragmentos de nuevas figuras y diversos detalles que no hab\u00edan sido observados en otros trabajos. Adem\u00e1s, se identifican las superposiciones como muestra de la complejidad en la realizaci\u00f3n del mural. \u00a0<\/p>\n

En esta campa\u00f1a se utiliza por primera vez la fotograf\u00eda digital como m\u00e9todo de investigaci\u00f3n del mural y se utiliza el software especializado DStretch, que identifica pictograf\u00edas d\u00e9biles y poco visibles, y posibilita el descubrimiento de nuevas figuras hasta ahora desconocidas y novedades de car\u00e1cter formal y t\u00e9cnico. Estos nuevos hallazgos permiten un mejor an\u00e1lisis del contenido del mural en todo su conjunto. <\/p>\n
