Description

During the period between March 1924 and July 1956, the composer lgor Stravinsky made six visits to Barcelona, five of a fully professional and public nature (in 1924, 1925, 1928, 1933 and 1936), and one last of a private nature and practically incognito (1956).
lgor Stravinsky’s performance in Barcelona in 1933 – the fourth – was limited to a single concert organized by the Camera Music Association (so important in Barcelona’s musical life at the time) and, for the first and only time, in the framework of the Palau de la Música Catalana and with the Pau Casals Orchestra. During the concert he conducted some of his great creations, among which were works not yet known in Barcelona and was able to present in public, for the first time, his son Sviatoslav as an interpreter of his Capricci for piano and orchestra. The highlight of the program was the Symphony of Psalms, one of the best scores in the composer’s catalog. The success of the concert was total and absolute as it was one of the most prestigious composers of the moment
