Description

The image of a group of children playing in Plaça Tetuan in Barcelona in 1935 offers us an intimate look at the urban and everyday life of childhood in the period of the Second Republic. This graphic document reflects the spontaneous use of public space as a place for socialization, learning and freedom. In a context of educational and urban transformation, street play becomes a symbol of a society that, despite the difficulties, bets on community life and childhood as hope for the future. This scene connects with the European values of an open, inclusive and living city, and reminds us that public space is also a space of memory. It is a simple but powerful testimony of how everyday life builds identity and how childhood has always been an active part of collective history.
