L'Espai Moja
Espai Moja is located on the ground floor of Palau Moja, where the stables of this French neo-Classically inspired Baroque palace, which opened in 1784, were located.
This palace is currently the headquarters of the Directorate General of Cultural Heritage of the Department of Culture. The ground floor houses this new exhibition created to make cultural heritage available to everyone.
Catalonia: Living Heritage
Take a journey through space and time and immerse yourself in the everyday life of the past and present through four main themes:
- Landscape
- Creations
- Emotions
- Voices
Each theme takes shape in different areas which allow you to enjoy Catalan heritage first hand thanks to the site’s interactive and immersive resources. At the start of the visit, you’ll receive a “compass” in the form of a bracelet, equipped with RFID technology, which will allow you to personalise the experience. You’ll be able to choose the language, activate an avatar inspired by the Catalan bestiary and save the elements of cultural heritage you find most interesting along the route.
During the exhibition, you’ll have the opportunity to metaphorically explore the land and discover Catalonia’s rich heritage, see the people who inhabited the monuments and sites, and go back in time to get an overview of the country’s history. In addition, you’ll be able to get to know the key moments in detail, experience the main historical transformations, taste the Mediterranean diet and traditional dishes, immerse yourself in popular celebrations and learn about the Catalan language.
At the end of the visit, you’ll receive a personalised summary of the elements you have selected along with a special surprise as a reminder of the experience that will encourage you to continue discovering other areas of Catalonia’s cultural heritage.
