Sala 113 | Cultural Heritage. Goverment of Catalonia.

Inexplicable, unusual, jaw-dropping and, above all, incredible stories

Catalonia’s archives safeguard thousands of documents that recount astonishing tales. Fascinating accounts waiting to be searched for and uncovered. But… where are they to be found?

Archives are vast spaces, with kilometres of shelving full of documents and files. Among all the rooms, there is one that is particularly special: Sala 113. This unique room is where an archivist works to collect, catalogue and provide access to some of the most surprising stories to take place in our country.

Stories of murders, witchcraft, pirates, wars, disasters, tragedies or legends which, although they may seem impossible, are real, documented events. Episodes that perhaps should never have happened, but did – and have been preserved forever in the archives.

Sala 113. Històries Arxivades (Room 113. Archived Stories) is a project of the Ministry of Culture, promoted by the Directorate-General of Cultural Heritage, with the aim of sharing the richness of Catalonia’s documentary heritage. The series collects and explains some of the strangest and most surprising stories from Catalonia’s documentary heritage. It consists of 20 episodes across two seasons, based on real, shocking events, previously unheard of, that have taken place in our country over the years.

Winner of a Premi Sonor podcast award in 2023.
