Els Ulls de la Història: A new way to experience the Romanesque heritage of the Vall de Boí at the Centre del Romànic in Erill la Vall

The new museography at the Centre del Romànic de la Vall de Boí proposes an interactive journey into the history of the valley and its churches – a new kind of story exploring how nature, power, religion and medieval society define the valley and are reflected in Romanesque architecture and art.

  

A journey into the Romanesque heritage of the Vall de Boí 

The exhibition invites you to discover the Romanesque ensemble of the Vall de Boí from a broad perspective, whilst also exploring the cultural and spiritual context of the medieval period. The route covers the history of the valley, medieval society, the artistic elements of the churches and the rediscovery of the Romanesque in the 19th century.
 
What’s more, through the interactive feature Paint Medieval Art, you can step into the shoes of a medieval master painter and colour the figure of Christ in Majesty from the apse of the Church of Sant Climent de Taüll.

The virtual reality experience

Put on the VR headset and find yourself transported to key moments in the history of the Vall de Boí and its Romanesque churches. Travel back to the Barcelona School of Architecture in the 20th century and see how they studied these churches. Experience the magic of the descent of the fallas on Midsummer Night – a spectacular torchlit tradition deeply rooted in valley life. Interact with the churches themselves, exploring plans and drawings that give you insight into the construction and artistic processes of the period.
