The Ripollès Regional Archive (ACRI) has been part of the Regional Archives Network of the Catalan Goverment (Generalitat de Catalunya) since it was inaugurated in 2001.

The ACRI occupies the building that had originally been the Ripoll hospital. The first news dates back to 1573 when, on the initiative of the abbot of the Ripoll monastery, Climent Mai, and with contributions from the people of Ripoll, a hospital was built next to the royal road. The building was destroyed during the Reapers' War and the First Carlist War. It was rebuilt for the last time in 1846 and maintained its functions as a hospital and geriatric residence until the 1980s. The building has 740 m2.

Its main mission is to preserve, conserve and disseminate the documentation of the institutions of Ripollès and other bodies, public or private, of historical or cultural interest in the region. Currently, the Regional Archive manages the collections from the local administration of the main municipal entities in the region (Ripollès Regional Council; Ripoll Court, and Ripoll, Campdevànol, Ribes de Freser Town Councils, among others).

It has storage rooms, nearly 5,000 linear meters for depositing documents, of which just over 1,000 are already occupied by the various collections received, and disinfestation and classification rooms. The building is adapted for people with reduced mobility.
