Amanda Vollenweider

Head of Education and Presentation at the Van Gogh Museum (Amsterdam)
She completed a MA in Museology at the Reinwardt Academie in 2000 after completing its art history foundation course, later obtaining an MSc in Business at the Nyenrode Business Universiteit.

Vollenweider is skilled in translating content into a balanced, multi-year programme in which the museum’s positioning and interpretation is refined and modernised, and she is keen to share her expertise in the field of (content-related) public policy, drawing on her experiences at various types of museums. She has successfully run her own company for many years and has assisted several museums in implementing modernisation programmes. As the head of the project office at NEMO, she was responsible for all projects at the science museum and helped set the new course for the Weekend van de Wetenschap (Science Weekend). Vollenweider became Head of Education and Presentation at the Van Gogh Museum in 2021.

Van Gogh has always piqued Amanda Vollenweider’s curiosity, but she is even more curious about (new) target groups and what makes them tick. It is an honour for her to be responsible for making people enthusiastic about Van Gogh, his work and his life. She enjoys using surprising combinations of content, collaboration and public communications to ensure visitors have an unforgettable time.
