Miguel Ángel Cajigal
Art and Architectural Historian, Exhibition Curator and Cultural Communicator
An art and architectural historian, exhibition curator and cultural communicator, he is a member of the International Council of Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) and the International Council of Museums (ICOM). He directs the Master of Education in Museums and Cultural Spaces at the Miguel de Cervantes European University and has been a member of the Scientific Committee of the Museums and Heritage Education Seminars of the Museum of Pontevedra since 2021.
He has taught at Colgate University, the Consortium of Vassar College and Wesleyan University, the University of Santiago, the University of the Basque Country, UNED and the University of Málaga, among others. He has collaborated with museums and cultural institutions such as the Prado Museum, the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, the Galician Cultural Council, the Royal Collections Gallery, the Lugo Provincial Museum Network and the Spanish History of Art Committee and the Fine Arts Museum of Valencia, among others. He has directed projects for the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage of the Government of Galicia and is a technical advisor in interventions for the conservation and restoration of cultural heritage.
Under the pseudonym of El Barroquista, he is dedicated to artistic and cultural diffusion, collaborating with the programmes El condensador de fluzo on TVE, Galicia por diante on Radio Galega and Julia en la onda on Onda Cero. He is a writer for the Penguin Random House group, where he has published two books: Otra historia del arte (2021) and Otra historia de la arquitectura (2023). He has received the EDE Award as the best digital educator in Spain in the History category (2022) and has been nominated for the Zapping Awards of the Association of Audiovisual Media Consumers of Catalonia in the Best Online Initiative category for his work on digital platforms (2023).
